Common Ridings' stylish new habits |
|
A brand new tartan has been launched to symbolise the Borders
countryside and the land which our Common Ridings were designed to
protect. A Scotland's Homecoming 'Return to the Ridings' initiative, it
was designed by Emma Arthur-Daniels a Heriot-Watt University textiles
masters student. Her design blends the traditional values of the Border
Common Ridings with modern yarns. With the common riding season well
underway now, the tartan will have an increasingly high profile in the
Borders throughout the summer. The eleven towns participating in Return
to the Ridings are represented in the tartan with the inclusion of their
colours in the tartan over-checks.
