Check out this unique 'Equibuddy' OPEN DAY taking place in the Scottish Borders on Sunday 9th July at 11am. Vaulting and RDA - from Grass Roots to International Levels.
Jenny Leggate, renowned international vaulting coach and senior instructor for Riding for the Disabled (RDA) is launching a mammoth appeal for funds to buy and train more horses for the use of RDA branches all over the UK.
Giving children with difficulties self-esteem and resilience is the raison d'etre of Jenny Leggate's work. She is passionate about the benefits of combining the challenges and rewards of vaulting with RDA and sees the horse as the key player in bringing out the best in the many young people she works with.
For some time now Jenny has been sharing her skills with the Berwickshire and Borders groups of the RDA and the Children's Therapy Unit at the Borders General Hospital. Training therapists and other volunteer helpers has also been high on her agenda to considerable effect. She champions vaulting and the exercise it promotes as a great way to develop fitness, balance, co-ordination, strength and thus core stability in young people. It is the relationship with the horse that the young person develops however that creates the magic that makes it all work.
'Equibuddy' is aiming to acquire and train eight horses that will be used mainly for RDA work and also for club vaulters. Sponsorship is now being sought from businesses as well as from individuals.
