The Stark's Haughhead near Ashkirk was the venue for the recent launch of a brand new equestrian business forum for the Scottish Borders.
Around 40 people attended a presentation by The Border Equine Business Association (BEBA) which has been established to boost the Borders equestrian economy, promote the Scottish Borders, provide equestrian facilities, create an information network and crucially, in so doing, to encourage the next generation into the industry.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman of BEBA, Jenny Stark said that she hoped those attending would seize the opportunity to network with others in the trade and to exchange ideas and information that could benefit everyone.
In addition to a range of equestrian research and development projects including establishing sales and purchasing guidelines, the group places great emphasis on identifying training needs. They intend to develop new equestrian training schemes while also exploring fresh work experience opportunities.
This new association came into being following a succession of meetings organised by a group of people directly involved in equestrian business in the Borders. They felt that more could be done to focus and co-ordinate the existing equestrian networks for everyone's benefit.
